Deserted Island Vibes

How we rhymed with God on Resurrection Sunday!

Resurrection Sunday brought deserted island vibes for my husband and me, and we loved it. You can see a 40-second highlight video here (post on April 23), along with the brief details about your chance to win a paperback copy of my book, Rhyming with God, in honor of World Book Day!

A few days before Resurrection Sunday, I began sensing a nudge to visit Jekyll Island on Resurrection Sunday. The nudge didn't leave me, so Collin and I hopped in the car and headed to Georgia that Sunday afternoon.

Considering it was later in the day and the drive was an hour and a half away, we considered going to Amelia Island instead, but we opted to pass that exit and keep on going the extra 40 miles.

"Yes, THIS is the stepped-away vibe I wanted to feel," I said to Collin as we approached tranquil Jekyll Island. Thanks to less traffic, the initial view of the expansive land and sea, and fewer people, life shifted gears all on its own, and it felt great.

We headed along North Beachview Drive, the area we typically stay in during our overnight trips to Jekyll.

After parking and walking toward the beach to check things out, we noticed Sunset Grille had been added to the property since we last visited the area.

It turns out that's where we later ended up ordering delicious food to enjoy outdoors with the ocean scenery, although there's also an ocean view when dining inside this modern restaurant, with great service.

We ate and eventually vegged out in a cabana. Collin snored a bit, and I just soaked up the scenery, admiring and basking in the creative, soothing work of our Lord.

After leaving our "deserted island" spot, we ended up driving along an unfamiliar road and came upon Driftwood Beach, which called for a pitstop.

My inner child immediately awoke, so I climbed and balanced on the driftwood and even jumped from rock to rock (a workout requiring balance) to get to the water to soak my feet. I felt full freedom of spirit. (Of course, Collin thought my rock-jumping was dangerous, but I told him I trusted my abilities to safely make it back and forth.) :-)

It was now getting dark, and as I hopped back across the rocks and walked toward my husband, a cross drawn in the sand suddenly captured my attention. Collin noticed it, too. It was like God's signature on the sand with His Voice saying:

"You did exactly what I had written for you to do

You sensed My nudge and followed through

Completely enjoying the gifts I had waiting for you!"

With an extremely grateful heart, I thanked and thanked our Amazing Creator, and the three of us (God, Collin, and I) drove home with refreshed, peaceful hearts.

"All the days of your life are written in My special book." Psalm 139:16

"He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in him." Colossians 1:17 (TPT)

"...And since he is the beginning and the firstborn heir in resurrection, he is the most exalted One, holding first place in everything. For God is satisfied to have all His fullness dwelling in Christ. And by the blood of his cross, everything in heaven and earth is brought back to himselfback to its original intent, restored to innocence again!" Colossians 1:18 - 20
